WHERE I FIND INSPIRATION #WRITERSBLOCK

Dear Humans,

Inspiration, so easy to gain, so easy to lose. As a writer and photographer it can be challenging to continue working when you feel you have lost your creative flair. I usually write all of my blog posts when I feel inspired, it is like this gust of energy that won't let my fingers leave the laptop. I am on my 2nd post of the night and will no doubt write a few more before bed. Equally, I too feel blocked from my creativity at times and I am pushed to retreat to one of my happy places to grab inspo.

I'm a human, I struggle with writing all the time, there are days when I wake up and I just can not string a sentence together, one worth reading anyway. On these occasions if I do not have a few blog posts in the vault my blog becomes a little malnourished. Luckily there are a few places that push my inspiration and spark my creativity.

Instagram and Tumblr really open up my creative mind. As visual platforms I get a lot of photography inspiration from them. This helps me with images for my blog posts or my own photography. I do not imitate the work I come across but art inspires art and it can be a real eye opener, pushing me to create something that made me feel the excitement or joy that I felt when looking at the posts on the site.

Here is a snippet of my Tumblr, it captures a bit of everything. Art, music, style, prints, fabric, nature but it is all me.

Instagram works in a similar way. Providing me with daily images of the things I love most. I follow a lot of people based and travel/nature accounts. What does your timeline consist of?

When I am truly feeling uninspired, taking a walk outside has proved to be most beneficial for my creativity. I have two go-to contrasting locations that help to feed my creative soul.

The Tube - One of my biggest passions is people, the interactions we have with each other, the way we communicate, our individuality and similarities. I adore being around people, I am an avid people watcher constantly coming up with life scenarios for the individuals on the tube I know nothing about. That life story might just turn into a blog post or a photoshoot, who knows.

Nature - Surrounding yourself with nature can do wonders for your soul. I feel like I can see things clearly when I am alone with grass, trees, flowers and fresh air etc. It reminds me to appreciate the world I live in, who I am as a person and that I am a small dot, in this big wide world.

Sometimes the best way to regain inspo is to literally do nothing. We all need 'nothing' days to rest our brain and regroup. My nothing days consist of laying in bed watching Scandal, OITNB and Homeland on Netflix while eating Crunchy Nut. Before I know it the sun has set and I am ready to grab inspiration from one of my other sources again.

When I feel a little lost with where I want to take my blog and photography, I look to others. I genuinely appreciate great photography so I am happy to look through one of my photography books or find some new photographers online. The thing that interests me with photography is that I can see a picture and I'll capture it my way but no one can capture it the exact way I can, no two pictures are the same.

I hope this post helps you to work out what inspires you and feeds your creative soul, there is inspiration in the smallest corners and the widest rivers of this world. Please give this post a Facebook like at the top of the page if you found it relatable or beneficial and we'll catch up soon.

With Love,
