Dear Humans,
After feeling a little disconnected from writing, I'm back and I want to write something with purpose.
Are you living YOUR best life?
I hear this best life quote going around quite often. When I first started hearing it, it made me think of me in about 5-10 years. Owning a house, having some beautiful children, owning a few businesses etc. and I would probably have that as an Instagram caption (assuming Insta is still a thing) while I am on a yacht drinking champagne for my 30th birthday. You know me, being the over dreamer that I am.
*puts it into universe*
But I realised something. Your best life isn't about material things at all and it isn't about needing the children, husband and house you are not yet ready for it's about where you are now and loving and appreciating every single thing about it. Living your best life is truly about living and loving in the moment.
When I think about it, I am sitting in my room on a Monday morning (11:24am so it's like fake morning, almost afternoon) but morning nonetheless, plus I only woke up an hour ago. I am sitting at my desk, writing for my blog that has all of you amazing people reading it. I bought this laptop on finance at a time when I really needed one asap (Uni life) and now I'm typing on my laptop that I've now paid for. I have a camera and a few photography jobs coming up. Hello? I am able to work on my hobby whenever I want. I have a family who love me, a roof over my head, friends who deal with my sarcasm, my 'alternative' ways or weird ok let's just call it what it is and yet they still wanna hang out. I have the the most fun and probably a little too much fun nearly every weekend and guess my jobs means that I never start at 9am on a Monday. How could I ever complain?
Appreciation for life aside, I'm human and of course there are days when I get a little disheartened that I am not further into my journey or that I wasn't that kid who realised her passion at 7 and is now the next Emma Watson and I start thinking maybe it is too late, news flash IT IS NEVER TOO LATE.
Down days can almost always be cured with sleep, a bubble bath, meditation, dinner with my besties and reading some positive quotes or life stories. Sometimes get hung up on what we don't have instead of being grateful for what we do.
We should see our down days and insecurities as nothing but motivation. If I'm not exactly where I had hoped I'd be by a certain time I'll just work a little harder and push myself to get there. No I can't do every single thing that I want to do when I want to do it and no I don't quite yet have Beyonce's number on speed dial but everything is a working progress and the best part of living in the now is that I get to shape my future.
For now I'll continue living my best life by simply putting my energy into anything I am passionate about and taking the advice of the world with a pinch of salt. If I want to save money one week and buy 3 pairs of shoes the next, I will. I'll keep going to bars on a school night, bringing my laptop everywhere with me because I have anxiety without it. I'll keep asking my friends to take 20 pictures of me to ensure I get the 'one' for my blog and I'll even put my phone on airplane mode when I don't want to hear from people. Sometimes you have to just do you, live your best life and own it.
