I am probably a little too excited for this Woman of my Wednesday post on the Artist that is Solange Knowles.
S O L A N G E K N O W L E S : 'A WALKING PIECE OF ART'
I do not know where to start, Solange has been in the industry for a long time but it was only in the last few years when she creatively evolved and starting making her OWN moves that suited her OWN style did I really notice how amazing she is. There are 3 main reasons why she is the Woman of my Wednesday. My mind reached a new openness and creative high after listening to A Seat At The Table, I played the album over and over again and wanted a seat at THAT table. Weary is my favourite track on the album, there is something pleasing about her raising worldly issues in the softest tone. It reminds me that you can be calm and patient while still fighting to be heard.
Solange is known for her bold fashion choices, you either don't understand them or you are sitting up at 2am in the UK waiting for the MET Gala pics to come out because you need to see what she wore, in real time (ME). Her fashion is art and she expresses herself by playing with tones, fabrics and prints.
When Solange was first seen in the music industry she was known as Beyonce's little sister, which she still is but as a fan of hers as a stand alone artist I am so happy she is being recognised for what she is amazing at. Her cool vibe and honest personality is put into everything she does and I cannot wait to see what she does next.
